The Last Leg to Cotignac

The flight from Amsterdam to Nice was one of the most scenic flights I have ever been on. It was a clear, clear sunny warm day. Leaving Schipol Airport you fly directly south for 1.5 hrs to Nice. First the flat, beautiful farmland of southern Holland, its magnificent in the spring, green fields, canals and endless farms. Entering Germany, the landsacpe sharpens into the green and black forests and the land starts to roll and then bam...the Swiss Alps. Simply magnificent. Then there it was, the Lake Geneva shoreline...ah reminisent of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water". next Mont Blanc, and then quite suddely within a few minutes really it all ends and the Mediteranian appears. The landing in Nice is stunning. Huge 75" yachts adorn the harbours and private jets are common along the taxiways.
After finding out the Barry was delayed in Munich, Lee-Ann, Mary, Derek and I jumped I the rental Mercedes wagon and drove the 1.5hrs to Cotignac...what specatular drive through Provence and its windy roads and vineyards and towns and villages!
We arrived in Cotignac at 4 p.m, and just in time to visit the stores to but some groceries, produce, cheese, bagettes, rose and beer for the evening( and cruise the hills of the town I might add). Babeth, the house manager and Phillippe the pool man were here to greet us and show us around. This house is out of the world. More to come on that tomorrow.
A good time had by all. Heather, Phil and Barry arrived at 8 p.m. We ate, drank and were very merry! So glad to be here! We have bben up for over 24 hours now, so Bon Soir Leo and Ziggy....
